It’s a Christmas classic kids love to watch. Indeed Home Alone remains the highest grossing Christmas movie of all time at the North American Box office when adjusted for inflation. And if you’re as old as I am, you’ll recall seeing the 1990 blockbuster film at the cinema. Now thanks to Google and it’s latest clever video marketing campaign, Kevin McCallister is Home Alone this Christmas once again.

Fans have waited decades to see Kevin McCallister have a new adventure. This festive season Google’s gone and brought it all back — for 60 seconds — with a fresh take on being left home alone in the digital age. The commercial re-creates some of the most iconic scenes from the festive flick. In the new mock trailer grown-up Kevin relies on his Google Assistant to get things done. Twitter loves it.

Macaulay Culkin, now 38 years old, tweeted the video with his post when Google released its masterpiece.

“#heygoogle Have you ever wondered what Kevin McCallister is like as an adult? Me neither. But just in case you’re curious you should totally watch this #ad.”

In the original released in 1990, Kevin needs to go grocery shopping, do his laundry, and protect his house from the determined pesky Wet Bandits — Harry and Marv — while his family is away in Paris.

In total, four Home Alone films released over 12 years, although only the first two stared Macaulay Culkin. His character, Kevin McCallister, is a rambunctious youngster who somehow manages to get left behind while the family is out of the house — usually jetting off on fancy Christmas vacations.

The original Home Alone, had an all-star cast including Catherine O’Hara and John Heard as Kevin’s parents and Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern as the bandits Harry and Marv. Macaulay’s real-life younger brother, Kieran Culkin, was also in the film as Kevin’s cousin Fuller.

The first movie released around U.S. Thanksgiving weekend and I remember the TV trailer was so funny my whole family went to see it together AND we brought along my little brother’s best friend too. Since then, the film still gets at least one replay each season before Santa arrives. But it’s not just in our house, generations of kids have grown-up watching this movie and it’s become a holiday tradition for many around the world.

Here’s the full commerical on YouTube. Watch until the end to find out if Kevin finally gets to eat his highly nutritious microwaveable mac n’ cheese!
